Panglao is a famous tourist destination for its white and sand beaches and world-class diving sites. Panglao is very accessible to other natural wonders of Bohol such as Chocolate Hills, the countless springs, rivers, falls and caves and thr ever cute tarsier, the smallest primate in the world.
Panglao Island is a small coralline and limestone island, located off the southwestern tip of Bohol. It is connected to Bohol by two bridges. It has an area of 80.5 square kilometers, divided between two municipalities, Panglao in the southwest, and Dauis in the northeast. Most divers, will probably select the white-sand Alona beach as their base and starting point for diving tours.
The underwater scene around Alona is exceptional, and divers can score nifty package deals by combining dives with accommodation. Just 15 km from tagbilaran, Alona works just fine as a base for exploring the rest of Bohol.
