The Philippines produced 3.37 million metric tons of banana in 2014.  Davao region accounted for 37.9% of the total production. In fact, Davao del Norte has a beach named after its chief agricultural product--- the Banana Beach.

Davao City, on the other hand,  has a restaurant serving everything with banana and is called the Saging Repablik

Bananas come in different varieties, colors and taste.  The most popular ones are the Cavendish or the table bananas, lakatan, tundan and saba.  Saba bananas are the ones used for cooking.
