  • 1 bunch string beans or baguio beans
  • 1 bunch bok choy or pechay
  • 1 pack or 100g peanuts, crushed
  • 1 pack or 20g rice flour
  • 1/4 cup of peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup annatto (atsuete seeds) dissolved in water

  • When cooked, add coloring (water from atsuete), crushed peanuts, and peanut butter. Cook for another 5 minutes. Add rice flour to thicken sauce. Continue cooking until water has evaporated and you are left with a very thick and consistent sauce.
  • In a separate pan, sauté garlic in oil. add banana heart, eggplant, and beans until soft and cooked through, being careful not to burn the eggplant or to crush the banana heart.
  • Add cooked vegetables to Kare-kare and top with bok choy/pechay. Serve with hot rice and bagoong!
