THE EXAMINATION of Philippine pre-history and how that fits into the modern L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+ movement is always a very fascinating and popular topic here at The Aswang Project. To this day, Philippine myths still have an active role in the lives of rural Filipinos. The countless myths circulating throughout the Filipino countryside contain a large variety of mythical creatures.

Although I was born and raised in Manila, I grew up hearing a lot of creepy stories from people around me, mostly my parents and neighbors who immigrated from the provinces. Superstition was as much a part of Philippine culture as the ubiquitous jeepney and I’ve had my fair share of superstitious beliefs I acquired during those times.
